If you've never maintained a swimming pool or hot tub the prospect of keeping the pH levels just right can be a daunting task.

Sanitizers
You may be aware that bacteria and viruses can grow in water of any kind. Sanitizers are used to disinfect water and keep it fresh making sure no nasty bugs can form and grow.
Most people use chlorine and bromine and their go to sanitizer. They're effective and easy to test making sure the chemical shows on test strips. A correct reading for chlorine is: 1.5-3.0PPM. A correct reading for bromine is 3.0-5.0PPM.

Shock Treatments
Non chlorine shock treatments eliminates odors and contaminates from the water. Due to the hot tubs high temperatures it requires high sanitation as well as an oxidizer.

pH
An important component on water balance. PH measures the acidity of the water. This is important as if not kept in check this can damage your equipment (pumps etc).
